About Skyler J Shaw
Skyler J Shaw is a Second-Generation Trial Attorney
Attorney “Sky” Shaw is the eldest son of acclaimed Indiana Trial Lawyer Jeff “JJ” Shaw. And he has (literally) been surrounded by the law his entire life.
He has been sitting in on his father’s trials since he was just five years old, well before his feet could reach the courtroom floors. Attorney Shaw recalls growing up in a home where legal casebooks lined the bookshelves; where deposition transcripts were stacked as high as he was tall.
Legal issues and hypotheticals were regular topics of conversation at the Shaw family dinner table. Attorney Shaw was challenged to view arguments from both sides, to understand the merits, as well as the faults, of each perspective.
He has been mastering the art of storytelling in trial his whole life. Attorney Shaw explains that telling a compelling story is essential in seeking full justice for his clients. And, that the best storytellers are the ones who care deeply about their listeners.
Attorney Shaw is right at home when he is in the courtroom. He is a young—yet skilled—trial lawyer, who is always looking forward to the next time he can win justice for a client.
Shaw Law has undoubtedly doubled in strength, with Sky’s addition. Attorneys, Skyler J Shaw and Jeff "JJ" Shaw, could not be more excited to be working alongside one another.
A True Hoosier, He Loves His Home-State of Indiana
Skyler J Shaw was born and raised in the city of Valparaiso, in the great state of Indiana.
Attorney Shaw is a proud Hoosier and credits his Indiana upbringing for much of his life’s happiness and success. He also stresses the impact his father had on his early education.
He was taught to read by the age of four. And, was reading at a collegiate level by the fourth grade. Always a standout pupil in school, Attorney Shaw remembers more than one of his teachers telling him he’d grow up to become a lawyer “someday.” How right they were.
Indiana University, in the beautiful city of Bloomington, was Attorney Shaw's first—and only—choice for undergraduate education. He was a double-major in both English and Communication/Culture.
He considers himself very fortunate, for having been able to attend, and graduate from, the law school in his hometown, Valparaiso. In fact, he was part of the historic, last-class of the Valparaiso University School of Law. The Valparaiso University School of Law was established in 1879, and officially ceased operations in 2020, after 141 years.
While obtaining his Juris Doctor, Attorney Shaw was also a distinguished member of the Valparaiso University School of Law’s Trial Advocacy Team, winning the 2018 Award for Best Closing Argument.
Attorney Shaw passed the Indiana Bar Examination on his first attempt. He was officially licensed to practice law in the fall of 2020. And now, he has finally stepped into the role that he has been preparing for his entire life: Indiana Trial Attorney.
He works each day to sharpen his litigation skills, in addition to the hard work he puts in at the office, and in the courtrooms. Attorney Shaw is a fast learner, who keeps up with all of the latest opinions handed down from the Indiana Courts as well as The Supreme Court.
With his limited free time, he enjoys lifting weights, playing video/strategy games, and spending time with his friends and family.
In the future, Attorney Shaw hopes to achieve recognition as one of the greatest trial attorneys in the history of the state of Indiana.
