American Family Insurance
Insurance Claims Denied by American Family Insurance
Dealing with American Family Insurance auto claims adjusters is a mixed-bag. Sometimes, its adjusters are very difficult to resolve claims with; sometimes not. Although the automobile insurance industry is becoming much more aggressive in denying automobile insurance claims as a whole, "Am Fam" can be understanding at times recognizing pain and suffering or mental anguish in resolving bodily injury claims of injured persons. When it is not understanding and it tends to devalue the true worth of many personal injury claims and cases, which compels Shaw Law to file lawsuits and threaten a jury trial to get fair value.
Surprisingly, we do not see a large volume of automobile insurance cases with American Family Insurance here at Shaw Law in Indiana. Most often, we see American Family Insurance on slip-and-fall cases involving injuries at various McDonald's Restaurants throughout the State of Indiana.
These McDonald's "slip and fall" or "trip and fall" cases prove to be some of the toughest battles we endure on a daily basis. Part of the reason is that McDonald's restaurants have very thorough systems of inspection and cleaning of its restaurants. (Remember, the law does not require a "perfect" floor or parking lot for customers; the law only requires that the landowner make a "reasonable effort" to keep floors and parking lots or sidewalks free from defects and dangerous conditions).
Secondly, the American Family Insurance cases involving McDonald's are very difficult to win, due to the fact that McDonald's does not want to set a precedent of easy payouts for customers injured on its property. It wants to make the process long, tedious and difficult to discourage its billions of customers each year from seeking easy money for feigned injuries or insurance fraud cases.
See us at Shaw Law in order to correctly handle your McDonald's injury claims.
Even though we do not see many automobile insurance cases involving American Family Insurance, "AmFam" is one of the largest providers of car insurance in the United States. American Family Insurance, also abbreviated as "AmFam", is a private mutual company (meaning its owned by its policyholders) and focuses on property, casualty and auto insurance. A Fortune 500 company, its revenues were over $6.7 billion for 2008.
American Family Insurance's history began on October 3, 1927, when insurance salesman Herman Wittwer opened the doors of Farmers Mutual Insurance Company (not to be confused with the Farmers Insurance Group -- which is a different company) in Madison, Wisconsin. At the time, the company's only product was auto insurance and its target market was farmers. Wittwer believed farmers presented lower risks than city drivers because they drove less often and not at all in the winter.
Over the years, Farmers Mutual expanded its market and product line to meet the changing needs of its customers. In 1963, Farmers Mutual changed its name to American Family Mutual Insurance Company to reflect its broader customer base.
It is estimated that American Family Insurance company is the fifth-largest insurer of automobiles and vehicles in Indiana, trailing only State Farm Insurance Company, Allstate Insurance Company, Progessive Insurance company and Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Company. Latest statistics show that American Family Insurance company insures nearly 5% of all automobiles that are insured in the State of Indiana.
Today, it is known as a major insurance company through its radio and television commercials that attempt to convince potential consumers that American Family "protects their dreams' by the purchase of insurance.
Although we have relationships with many adjusters of "AmF"am (American Family Insurance company) in Indiana, we still prefer to attempt to get fair value for automobile insurance claims of personal injury, including pain and suffering, by filing lawsuits. Many times we can eventually recover 20x (twenty times) or more money in settlements after the filing of a lawsuit compared to offers made by American Family Insurance in pre-litigation claims offers.
